A Nauvoo Wedding

Our whole reason for coming to Nauvoo was to celebrate Sage's wedding to Zach. They were married on July 4th in the Nauvoo Temple. What a crazy day. We woke up to an amazing rainstorm, which continued all day. Sometimes pouring, sometimes sprinkling like a mist, but it didn't dampen the mood of the day. We went to the temple at 9:00am, and the ceremony was beautiful. Taking pictures at the temple was a little bit difficult because of the storm. We got a few pictures of the people who attended the sealing, and Zach's brothers and sisters, but told our kids to stay at home because it would be too cold. Luckily, the photographer took Sage and Zach the day before the wedding for some nice pictures of them around the temple. At 2:00pm we had a reception at the church. I couldn't believe how many people came, especially on a holiday, but the Steen's are truly loved here in Nauvoo. Half of the food. There were two tables that were just as beautiful. The food was AMAZING!!The centerpieces.Parents of the bride.Sage's family. Marty did a great job of keeping us all fed. He does an amazing job on the barbecue, and Jamie was extremely calm for a mother of the bride... stellar job!! Amber saved the day with the beautiful wedding cake, and Lacey lit up the whole room with her beautiful eyes, and her knock out smile. Sage and Zach with her grandparents and great-grandparents. Zach's family. His parent's were really fun to get to know. Sage blends right in with the rest of them. Actually she's quite short compared to the rest of the Scotts.Me and Steve, proof we were here!!I promised my kids that if they'd pose for one good picture for me, I'd leave them alone for the rest of the night. Thanks kids!!My brother Thad, his wife Kim and my darling nephews and niece. They have been so fun to get to know on this trip. They have such fun personalities. Madison and Conlan sing me songs and Talmage is a great dancer. Kim, we'll have to get together again to finish that game of farckle.Aunt Sharon and Uncle Lynn are missionaries here in Nauvoo. They are staying at my mom and dad's house. They were so sweet to let us stay with them. They have been so busy working at the different sights and shows here in Nauvoo, but we were able to see them at the reception for a short time. Grandpa and Grandma Dickson enjoying frozen custard and other yummy desserts.Cutting the cake... there's a cake story, but it's too long to tell. I'm sure Jamie will post about it. The cake was beautiful, with a black bow on top and pearls on each tier. Grandpa and Grandma Dickson, a little bit worn out. It was a long, fun day. This is their first great-grandchild to get married.Later that evening we had a bunch of people come over and set off all kinds of fireworks, it was a great way to end the day.As we were watching the fireworks, I remembered a dream I had had about this day. When Sage was living with us I would talk with her mom on the phone almost every day. One day I told her about a dream I had where we were watching fireworks and celebrating the 4th of July. I knew in the dream that Sage and Zach were married. I thought it was so odd that they were married on the 4th of July and we were all just sitting around watching fireworks. I was having deja vu so strongly, I turned to Jamie and told her. She remembers the conversation we had that day on the phone, and here it was happening...amazing!
