Here's the scoop. Last Wednesday night I was going to bed around 11:30, I turned off all the lights, and as I was walking past the stairs I saw that Kaylea's light was on. I decided to go investigate. As I walked down the stairs I stepped on something and started to slide down the stairs. (I found out later the phone was left on the stairs) As I was falling I threw my hands out and hit something. All 3 girls heard the THUMB, BUMP, BANG, BUDUM BUDUM, and came out of their rooms. My right pinkie felt totally numb, and as I held it out to look at it, they all gasped. It looked freaky. (as seen in the previous pictures)
Steve took me to the hospital. My finger was just dislocated, but the ER doctor said he was sure I had ripped my ligament in half. He told me I needed to go to an orthopedic surgeon for a second opinion, but if that was the case I would have to have surgery to repair the ligament, and go through physical therapy. If I didn't repair the ligament, my finger would be dislocated every time I bumped it wrong, or bent it. He sent me home in a plaster splint so it wouldn't move until I was seen by the second doctor.
I had to wait a day before I saw the doctor. During which time I had a stake training meeting. Basically, everybody I know around here was there, and I was asked about 40 times what happened. Many people said, "I bet you've told your story 20 times... so what happened?" It was kind of funny.
Well, Friday morning I went to see the doctor. He gave me another x-ray and said tape it up and it will heal itself. I went from a huge plaster splint to a small piece of tape around my finger. It has swollen to about 2 times its original size, but is a lot easier to do just about everything. I guess the ER doctor went a little overboard. The good news is it won't affect my trip too much. That was my main concern.

MORP
The name for the girls choice dance here in Grantsville is MORP... prom backwards. Jessica and Sage just had MORP last night. I think the things they ended up doing were a lot of fun for them. Jessica invited Brian Peterson, and Sage invited Marty Reukert. They went to the Gateway (an outdoor mall) and t
ook a pad of art paper and colored pencils, water colors, and
markers. They sold portraits of people for 25 cents each. They ended up making about $4.50. I think a few customers were somewhat satisfied.... Then they used their money to take their chances at the claw machine. (I don't know what it's really called) They were able to get two very large water balls with plastic spikes, (again, I don't know what they are called) from the claw machine. Both of the water balls popped, and that's when the fun began. Jessica started to blow it up like a balloon. This gave Marty and Brian the idea of putting it on their heads and blowing it up with their noses! They then ran through the fountains with these giant spikey ballons on their heads, chasing kids, a
nd making fools of themselves. (Isn't that what teenagers do?) They came back to our house for dinner. They had to draw out of a hat what they would eat with, and what they would eat on... the table, or a plate. Sage ate on a plate with a spaghetti server, Marty ate on the table with an ice cream scoop. Jessica ate on the table with a rubber spatula, and Brian ate on a plate with a pastry brush. They had a wonderful dinner of salad, spaghetti, and ice cream. Then they went to the dance, got pictures, came back to our house for a video, and went home. The boys they asked were really nice, and very funny, I think they had a great time.
Temporary Hair color? RIGHT
Steve and I went to Park City on Friday night, and came home Saturday afternoon. While we were gone, Sage and Kaylea decided to have a little fun with hair color. They bought a $10 temporary, pink hair color, and both colored a pink streak in their hair. Problem was when they tried to wash it out, it wouldn't come out. They ran back to the store to buy some brown hair coloring, but could only afford a $2 fix. They put the brown hair color on for about an hour, but it wouldn't stick. Luckily they put the pink under a little bit so the only way it will show is if they pull back the top section of hair. NEVER TRUST temporary hair color!!!! Don't change your hair while mom is out of town!!! A couple of good morals to live by!

Jessica is famous

Jessica is in the paper again, this was taken at the end of a race about 3 weeks ago. Not sure why they waited so long to put it in the paper.
I think the caption at the bottom of the picture might be too small to read, it says, "Grantsville's Jessica Collings catches her breath after finishing in first place in a meet against Bear River at Deseret Peak Complex. Collings is the top female runner on the Grantsville cross country team."
I'm very proud of her (if you can't tell). Tracy

Clarence's Funeral
We sure enjoyed the time we spent with family at the funeral of Uncle Clarence. Everyone was so warm and loving. I have posted all of the pictures from the funeral and our trip to Wyoming on my flickr account, (look at the 'My Pictures' link on the right) but wanted to post a couple on my blog. It was amazing how many family members we saw from all over the country. We sure have an amazing family.
Traveling with the Wrights
Kaylea and I just took a trip with Lee and McKenna to Lovell, Wyoming for the funeral of Clarence Zeller, our uncle. The trip was full of lots of fun memories. We past herds of antelope and deer, the world's largest mineral hot spring, and saw many new towns including our favorite town of Thermopolis. I have to say, we were anxious to get to Lovell in time for the funeral to start, so when I drove, I drove extremely fast. There was nothing out there but sage brush and dirt, very few cars were on the road. We got to the town of Thermopolis, and Lee loved the name so much he wanted to get out and take a picture. After our stop, Lee took over driving, he decided he could go quite fast too, although not as fast as me. He was about 5 minutes outside of Thermopolis when he came upon officer Taylor driving the other way. The police man did not waste any time turning around and pulling us over. The girls thought it was the funniest thing ever. They took pictures of the police man, and even talked him into posing with them. I don't think Lee was as amused as the girls, but he didn't take it too hard. We only wished Officer Taylor was a little more lenient.

18 years and tickin
It's a weird place to find yourself when you have lived with your spouse longer than you lived at home with your parents. I am coming up on that anniversary this year! Do I feel old?? I'm trying really hard not to, but YES! I think starting school has been such a fun thing for me. It's making me feel younger. I left my lab today and a man was standing at the bottom of the stairs I was going down. He said, "I have been here for 10 minutes watching everyone come down the stairs and you are the only person I have seen smiling." I find myself smiling all the time. I thought to myself, "When you wait to go to school until you are older, you know you're going because you want to". I'm really happy with what I am doing. Steve is really doing well too. He stays busy with work, but his love is the gospel. He still goes out every Wednesday and visits with people in the stake, usually those who are struggling a little bit. He has made some really close friendships, and has had some amazing experiences with these visits.
Running Running Running
It seems the only thing Jessica has been doing lately is running. She stays after school every day and runs at least 3 miles. She has Cross Country meets every Wednesday, and sometimes on Saturdays. She has been talking to her coach about a possible scholarship, and if she keeps her speed up she could be able to get one. She also has been busy with dental assisting, she wakes up every morning at 5am and has to go to West Jordan for a class. Then comes back to Grantsville for the second half of her day.
Sweet niece
Sage has been here for a few months now, I think she's sick of Auntie Tracy nagging her about every little thing. And Uncle Steve teasing her about every boy who calls. She has been really fun to have around. They put her in the YW presidency before we even had her records from Nauvoo. She has been busy with Cross Country, and an internship. She works hard in school and has an online class that's been fun for her. Life is good.
Driving??? Are you nuts?
Steve had a funny situation happen with his driving the other day. I always let him drive to work with his learners permit. On this particular day he stopped at the stop sign and was going to turn left onto Main Street. There were about 6 cars coming from the right, but none from the left so Steve decided to pull out into the center lane. He then eased his way into the little clump of 6 cars. (I would not have done that...) The car he pulled in in front of changed lanes and came around him on the right side, she slowed down and screamed out her window, "LEARN TO DRIVE!!". I shouted back, "He's trying!" but she was not amused.
KK Bear
Kaylea is 13 for another month, then she'll be in Mia Maids with me. She is enjoying 8th grade...somewhat. She spends time with friends, running, babysitting, listening to music, and chatting online. Kaylea has had a lot of fun this year with Jessica and Sage, they like to swap clothes, do each other's hair, and just hang out and have fun.
Football
Conner is 10 years old, and about 10 years overdue to start football. Conner absolutely loves this sport. I think he loves plowing into other boys, throwing them to the ground and not getting in trouble for it. He is one of the smallest boys on the team, but he can hold back boys twice his size when he's on the line. Last Saturday they played against Cyprus, and Conner had a fumble recovery, and was also able to tackle a receiver. I'm not sure exactly what he plays, but I think they say it's tight end. The have won every game so far this season... Go COWBOYS!! This picture is Conner with his second favorite sport... GUNS! We went to our property and he spent the majority of the time with this beebee gun, and his paintball gun.
